Airline / Travel Agency Management
The Airline / Travel Agency Management class is a comprehensive program designed for the individual in Hawaii who is serious about a career in the travel industry. The Airline / Travel Agency Management course is a "hands-on" program covering the day to day job skills of the Travel professional.
Graduates are prepared for positions as entry level Travel Agents, Airline Ticket Agents, Airline Reservationists, Tour Coordinators, Travel Agency Manager, and Tour Escorts here in Hawaii or abroad.
A diploma will be issued to students successfully completing this course (42 Quarter Credit Hours - 480 Clock Hours).
Average class size - 12 students. Normal time for completion: DAY/EVENING - 30 weeks.
What You Learn with Airline / Travel Agency Management Courses
Domestic Travel Planning:
From the basics of codes, terminology and geography, the student progresses through the entire itinerary planning and reservation procedures. (80 hours)
Domestic Fare Construction:
In-depth study of the tariffs and rules used to determine the cost of an itinerary. Students will learn to price itineraries, from simple inter Island to specialized excursion fares. (40 hours)
Ticketing:
Students will learn to issue and process all ARC ticket stock, including ATC 122s, MCOs, PTAs, Refund Notices, Exchange Notices, and Tour Orders. (40 hours)
International Fare Construction:
Students cover the basics of International itinerary planning and world wide fare construction. (40 hours)
Worldwide Tours & Cruises:
Students cover the proper selection and booking of FIT Tours, Group Travel and Cruises. (40 hours)
SABRE / APOLLO Computers:
In-depth training in the use of the automated reservation and information access systems. Computer training is conducted on live CRTs located at the Institute for the exclusive use of the student. (240 hours)
Hawaii Airline / Travel Agency Management Training Facilities
The Travel Institute of the Pacific occupies the 11th floor of the Interstate Building, centrally located on the main bus routes between downtown Honolulu and Waikiki. Classrooms are fully carpeted and air conditioned, with panoramic views of the city and ocean. In order to insure individualized instruction and personalized attention, all classrooms are designed for limited enrollment. In addition, the Institute maintains an extensive reference and periodical library, a computer center with live on-line American Airline SABRE CRTs, United Airline APOLLO, IBM PCs, and Computerized Hotel Front Desk Systems.
